A recent survey of 1,400 full-time employees in the U.S., ages 18 to 44, released findings and insights regarding stress and the workplace:

  1. Prevalence of Stress: The study reveals that 90 percent of employees experience work-related stress. This high level of stress is a major concern for both employees and employers.
  2. Consideration of Quitting: Because of the stress, 44 percent of employees are considering quitting their jobs within the next six months. This indicates a potential high turnover rate, which can be detrimental to organizations.
  3. Communication with Management: About half of employees have discussed their stress with their manager or HR.
  4. Absenteeism: 71 percent of employees have missed at least one day of work because of stress in the past month. This absenteeism can affect productivity and overall workplace morale.

Most things involve stress, like driving. Work is an activity that causes stress, but it is not the only source, so controlling stress is very difficult. Managers should try limit work-related stress, which would help lower turnover and absenteeism.
